EMBEDDING PERCEPTION: HOW CHANGES IN MANUFACTURING APPROACH INFLUENCE INTERACTION-DESIGN PREFERENCES

چکیده
Abstract This paper explores how small-but–detectable changes in manufacturing protocol can alter interaction-design preferences for users. Building on a number of previous studies by the authors, this focuses manufacture set emotionally attuned pattern-based surface texture designs means computer-numerically controlled (CNC) machining. An experiment is subsequently reported that variations toolpath rastering approach affect visual and tactile qualities textures relation to preferences, with focus psychological experience. The implications respect user-centred design (UX) more broadly are discussed, recommendations reconfiguration computer-aided (CAM) approaches better encode diverse users may have when considering products manufactured.

How do disaster characteristics influence risk perception?
The main purpose of this study is to examine how risk perception is influenced by the type of disaster (flood or landslide) and victim characteristics. The data reported here are based on the National Risk Perception Survey (NRPS) that was administered for the victims and the general public in Taiwan in 2004. In that year, many towns in Taiwan were seriously affected by floods and landslides, r...
متن کاملHow social perception can automatically influence behavior.
Do we always know the reasons for our actions? Or is our behavior sometimes unknowingly and unintentionally influenced by what we have recently perceived? It has been traditionally assumed that the automatic influence of knowledge in memory is limited to people's interpretation of the world, and stops short of shaping their actual behavior. Researchers in experimental social psychology have beg...
متن کاملHow imagery changes self-motion perception
Imagery and perception are thought to be tightly linked, however, little is known about the interaction between imagery and the vestibular sense, in particular, self-motion perception. In this study, the observers were seated in the dark on a motorized chair that could rotate either to the right or to the left. Prior to the physical rotation, observers were asked to imagine themselves rotating ...
متن کاملEmily Balcetis Wishful Seeing : How Preferences Shape Visual Perception
People assume that they perceive the world as it really is. In this article, we review research that questions this assumption and instead suggests that people see what they want to see. We discuss classic and current research demonstrating wishful seeing across two perceptual tasks, showing that people categorize ambiguous visual information and represent their environments in ways that align ...
